Who would not wish to search for happiness on a remote island, with palm trees, white beaches, and a handsome man?

It is 1986 and three years after a personal tragedy, Pippa and Rob Lambton are crushed by grief. A crumbled marriage and a lonely shrine in their house on Henrietta Street, Whitby, makes Pippa want to move on with her life. She takes a trip to the beautiful Isles of Scilly and leaves behind her husband and troubled best friends, Joan and Terry. Where did it all go wrong?

When Pippa arrives she meets the handsome Norwegian, Sven Jørgensen, who is nursing a heartbreak of his own, yet he shows Pippa how to survive through the wonders of the island’s wildlife. What Pippa should be doing is going home to Rob. What she is really doing with Sven is probably foolish, but is it possible she can fall in love again? She has three weeks to make up her mind.

Reviews

Treadgold brings the quiet Isles of Scilly to life, with her evocative descriptions of both scenery and spending lazy days by the sea. She captures the emotional turmoil of the four main characters as they question their relationships and struggle to make things work. Some serious issues are tackled, but at its heart is the earning to love and be loved. This is a gentle, enjoyable read where, at times, I felt I was also experiencing a holiday by the sea.

Booklover

A new easy to like story especially if you know the Isles of Scilly. Having been lots of time for holidays I could imagine all the locations and this made me enjoy the book more. Good for a holiday read.

I bought this book as The Scillies is a place I have been holidaying for over 40 years,The story was great and reading about places with real names brought back many memories and good times.Characters are not real people but after many holidays there you could associate them with some real people I have met.Would recommend this book to women especially those that have been there
